BREAKING: Pastor Adefarasin reports self to Police over viral gun video clip

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, is currently under investigation after a viral video emerged showing him holding a gun-like object during an encounter with a road user.

In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police stated that Pastor Adefarasin voluntarily turned himself in at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, where he is presently being interrogated by detectives.

“Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja and is currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation on the case since a video surfaced online showing the pastor holding a gun-like object against another road user, while driving in an unregistered vehicle,” Hundeyin said.

He added that the matter is being handled in accordance with the law and promised that “the outcome of the investigation will be made public.”

The Command also emphasised that “no one is above the law.”

The controversy began last week when a video clip appeared on social media showing Pastor Adefarasin inside a car, seemingly holding a metallic object while addressing a passerby, reports Daily Independent.

The object, which some viewers speculated to be a firearm, triggered outrage and safety concerns online, with calls for accountability.

Responding to the incident in a message shared across his social media platforms on Saturday, Pastor Adefarasin denied the firearm allegations, insisting that the object he held was not a weapon and that he did not point it at anyone.

“I understand that a video is circulating that may have created a misunderstanding about an object in my hand. I want to categorically state that I did not point a firearm at anyone, nor was I in possession of a weapon,” he wrote.
