Tinubu’s envoy Reno Omokri responds calmly after X user wishes him dead

•Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, former presidential aide and one of the ambassadors appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has responded calmly to a controversial comment from a user on X (Twitter) who said they prayed he would not return alive from his ongoing climb of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Omokri, who is currently attempting to summit Africa’s highest mountain while carrying the Nigerian flag as part of his #RenoClimbsKilimanjaro campaign, had earlier posted about the difficulty of the climb, noting the effect of low oxygen levels, reports Daily Independent.

“What you see behind me is the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is so hard to breathe due to low oxygen levels. I’ve been climbing for three days, and I may get there tomorrow to hoist Nigeria’s flag,” he wrote.

In response, an X user identified as @emmalekzy_11 posted a harsh message saying they prayed Omokri would not return alive.

Rather than respond angrily, Omokri shared the comment and replied in a composed tone, saying his fate rests in God’s hands.

“My coming back alive is in the Hands of God. As long as I fulfil my mission to hoist Nigeria’s flag on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, I will be fulfilled,” he wrote.

He also thanked supporters and prayed for Nigeria and its citizens.

Omokri’s Kilimanjaro climb is part of a personal campaign he says is aimed at promoting Nigeria and inspiring resilience, as he attempts to plant the Nigerian flag at the mountain’s summit.
