A 30-year-old UK-based Nigerian doctor, Azeezat Sanusi known as Dr Zee, has shared a heartwarming moment of reuniting with her former secondary school biology teacher, who now works as a nurse at the same hospital where she is employed as a doctor.
The reunion, captured in a video now trending on social media today from her TikTok handle #zeemed_, shows the two reflecting on their journey from the classroom in Nigeria to working together in the United Kingdom.
Introducing him in the clip, Dr Zee said, “I’m here with my secondary school biology teacher. He currently works as a nurse at the hospital where I work as a doctor. Like, how cool is that?”
She described the experience as surreal, adding, “It just feels amazing that we’re here today. You’re a registered nurse and I am a doctor.”
Responding, the former teacher, identified as Nurse Sunday, expressed pride in his former student.
“Which is what everyone prays for ,”he said.
During the conversation, Dr Zee admitted she was not among the brightest students during her secondary school days.
“You taught me biology in secondary school. To be honest, I don’t even think I was particularly smart in secondary school. I was quite naughty. I was very playful,” she said.
The doctor jokingly told her former teacher that he likely would not have predicted she would become a medical doctor.
“If you had to guess at that point which of your students was going to become a doctor, I don’t think you would have chosen me,” she said.
Laughing, Nurse Sunday agreed, saying, “I wouldn’t have chosen you.”
Dr Zee added that she “didn’t like biology” while in school, making the reunion even more remarkable.
According to her social media profile, Dr Zee is both a General Medical Council-registered doctor and a Nursing and Midwifery Council-registered professional in the United Kingdom.
