Veteran Hausa actress Saratu Gidado found dead in her room

A veteran actress in Kannywood, the Hausa-language film industry, Saratu Gidado, popularly known as Daso, is dead.

Relatives of the late actress announced the shocking death to Freedom Radio today, saying that the actress was found dead in the morning.

The relatives said she was found dead after she had gone back to sleep after Sahur, the early-morning Muslim breakfast for those observing the Ramadan fasting, reports Daily Trust.

Daso who died at the age of 56 was born on 17 January, 1968 in the city of Kano.

She was particularly known for the comical roles she played as an aggressive and mischievous woman.

She made her debut in 2000 in a movie titled ‘Linzami Da Wuta’, produced by Sarauniya Movies.

Other hits that led to the late actress’s stardom include Nagari, Gidauniya, Mashi, and Sansani followed.

Details of her burial will be announced later.
