Following the abduction of the Lagos PDP chairman, Mr Philip Aivoji by some gunmen, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, in a chat with our Correspondent, said she was not aware of the kidnap incident.

Odutola said: “For now, I don’t have any information about the person who was kidnapped.”

Kidnap is shocking, unfortunate – Ondo PDP chairman

Also reacting to the abduction, the chairman of the PDP in Ondo State, Mr Tola Alabere described it as shocking and unfortunate.

Alabere, in a chat with our correspondent, said: “The news of the kidnap of the Lagos state chairman of our party, Philip Aivoji, is shocking and unfortunate.

“It’s one kidnapping too many. It’s the result of the decay in the security architecture of the country.

“Security agencies should put in their best to secure the freedom of the highly respected Politician unconditionally and quickly too,” reports Saturday Vanguard.

Recall that the Lagos PDP Chairman was abducted by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

Confirming the abduction, the PDP Secretary in the state, Soji Orioye, in a statement said Aivoji was abducted by unknown gunmen on his way back to Lagos from an official meeting of PDP South West stakeholders forum held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Oyo State Government House, Agodi in Ibadan.

Orioye said the abduction was witnessed by Wole Adedapo, the State Treasurer of the party who was lucky to escape from been abducted.

The statement reads:

“Mr Philip Aivoji is an elderly man of age and frail, to this end, we are using this opportunity to solicit for your prayers and intervention in anyway you can to facilitate his safe release from his abductors for a healthy reunion with his families.

“As one of the important political leaders in Lagos State, we believe the abduction of Hon. Philip Aivoji should not be treated with levity. We therefore call on the security agencies for quick intervention for his safe release as this will further build the confidence of the people in the success of our security apparatus.

“To this end, we are by this release imploring the good people of Lagos State and the South West zone to continue to put him in prayers for God to quickly intervene and ensure that Hon. Philip Aivoji, the Lagos State PDP Chairman is released safely to his family.

“We thank you for your continued cooperation.”
