•Gowon and Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu is currently in closed-door talks with former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Gowon arrived at the forecourt of the President’s office at minutes past 2pm where Tinubu personally received him, reports The PUNCH.
Today’s encounter is the first private meeting between the former Head of State and the President since the later assumed office nine months ago.
It is not clear what both men will be discussing at the meeting.
Gowon, Nigeria’s Head of State from August 1966 to July 1975, currently serves in the Council of State.
