PDP governors in support and against Acting Chairman Damagum •FULL LIST

The FrontierThe FrontierSeptember 20, 2024 3260 Minutes read0

•PDP acting chairman, Damagum

The division within the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Governors Forum (PDP GF) has assumed another dimension, mirroring tensions in the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) over the continued tenure of acting national chairman, Iliya Damagum.

Formerly serving as the PDP National Deputy Chairman (North), Damagum assumed the position of acting National Chairman after the court suspended the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, reports The Nation.

Damagun, who hails from Yobe State in the North-east, is believed to be an ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Pro-Damagum are: Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State; Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State; Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State.

Anti-Damagum are: Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum; Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki; Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri; Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno.

But Enugu and Zamfara Governors Peter Mbah and Dauda Lawal, maintain a neutral stance.
