BEWARE: Drug-infused sweets in circulation – NDLEA warns Nigerian parents

•Assorted sweets

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has cautioned parents to be vigilant about sweets and candies laced with intoxicating substances that are currently in circulation.

According to the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, some of these sweets resemble regular chocolates but are suspected to contain harmful substances.

He urged parents to monitor the kind of treats their children consume, especially at school, reports Nigerian Tribune.

Maigatari explained that these drug-laced sweets are being sold to unsuspecting children, making it important for parents to observe any unusual behavior in their kids.

“Parents should be on the lookout if they observe some changes in their children, the changes they should observe include sudden changes in their eating habits and their sleeping patterns,” he advised.

The NDLEA is working to track the distribution of these harmful sweets and prevent them from reaching more children.
