Star actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie’s new look raises eyebrows

•Mercy Johnson-Okojie now (L) and before (R)

Popular actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, has sparked concerns among fans following recent social media posts showcasing a noticeably slimmer physique.

The actress, known for her vibrant roles and curvaceous figure, has prompted a flurry of comments from supporters expressing worry over her health, reports Saturday PUNCH.

In videos shared on her Instagram page recently, fans couldn’t help but notice the actress’ significant weight loss. One follower commented, “You look so different, hope you’re okay,” while another wrote, “Please take care of yourself, we love you.”

However, in one of the videos, the actress noted that she had been selling weight-loss products for years. Advertising the products, she stated that one of them will “dry you up in two months”.

She also stated that she had not undergone any surgery for those who might think that her drastic weight loss was as a result of going under the surgeon’s knife.

But, many of the comments under her posts indicated that her fans were not pleased with her new look.

A follower, Chidube, wrote, “You need to look yourself in the mirror.”

Another follower, Nwanyibuego, wrote, “We love you but the weight loss is too much, mama.”

Another fan, Onlyqueennoma, added, “Please add weight. I don’t really like the way you are now.”

Immaculatebeauty_world, wrote, “The truth is that her being skinny didn’t make her look younger; rather she looks older, except with time, she will look better.”

Apparently insinuating that the actress was not being honest with her claims, a follower, Real_princess_bridget wrote, “Respectfully, your dramatic weight loss usually requires medical intervention. Only procedures like gastric bypass or medications like Ozempic etc, have been proven to deliver these kinds of results of yours… Diet and exercise alone rarely produce such rapid changes. Please stop the spread of false information.”

Echoing similar thoughts, IjeomaChinaza wrote, “Don’t mind them. My sister bought the same so-called tea and nothing happened. After taking Ozempic, they will come here and be shouting ‘tea tea’. Just go to the gym and eat healthy, you will definitely lose your weight.”

Meanwhile, Johnson-Okojie’s “transformation” has reignited discussions about her health, particularly after her previous revelation about a thyroid-related health scare some years ago. In an episode of her cooking show — Mercy’s Menu — Johnson had disclosed to her guest and veteran actress, Joke Silva, that she had undergone thyroid surgery after doctors identified a lump on her neck, which was initially feared to be cancerous. She clarified that it was a cancer scare, not an actual diagnosis, and that she was now on lifelong medication to manage her condition.
