No fewer than seven persons were within two days drowned in the lagoon, beach, and hotel swimming pools in Lagos.

This is just as emergency responders have recovered the body of one of the deceased passengers of an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge on Wednesday, reports Nigerian Tribune.

The image maker in charge of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the death of the seven persons to our correspondent.

The police image maker also stated that investigations had commenced into the circumstances surrounding all seven incidents.

It was gathered that all seven incidents happened between April 10 and 11 at different locations in the state.

A police source, who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with our correspondent said; “On April 10th, at about 6:17 pm, a pool attendant at a hotel located at Marina, Lagos Island, reported at Ebute Ero Division that, at about 4 pm, one Fawad Adeyemi, 16, came to their hotel to swim and got drowned; and that the victim was rescued and rushed to General Hospital, Lagos Island, for medical treatment where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.”

The police source also said that based on the report, a team of detectives visited the scene; the hospital was also visited where the corpse was inspected and photographed.

Also on the same day, at about 11 pm, the manager of a guest house located at Mushin reported at Mushin Division that, on the same day at about 7:30 pm, two young boys, names, ages, and addresses yet unknown allegedly got drowned while swimming in the hotel pool.

According to the police, the victims were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment where they were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

The police source added; “The following day on April 11th, at about 5:25 pm, a case of drowning was reported at Ibeshe Division.

“The complainant stated that his friend, Hakeem Fawas,20, allegedly drowned while they were swimming at Ibeshe.”

Two passengers of a commercial bus had on Wednesday morning been flung into the lagoon around Adeniji Adele end of the Third Mainland Bridge in a lone accident.

Eighteen other passengers of the vehicle escaped with varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the hospital, where they were attended to.

The body of one of the deceased persons was today recovered by emergency responders, who had been in search of them since the accident happened.

The South West coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farimloye confirmed the recovery of the body.

The NEMA boss identified the recovered body as that of the male adult, who was involved in the accident.

He also stated that efforts were still on to recover the missing body of the female passenger of the accident vehicle.
