Heroic Immigration officer rejects ₦10 million bribe, arrests alleged ritualist •Gets ₦1million reward for patriotism

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 30, 2025 2901 Minutes read0

•The suspect, Levi Onyeka Obu

In an inspiring display of patriotism and integrity, a young official of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Prince Orji Ugochukwu, has been commended and rewarded for rejecting a ₦10 million bribe and aiding the arrest of a suspected kidnapper and ritual killer, Levi Onyeka Obu, popularly known as Ezeani, Ichie Billion, or “E Dey Play, E Dey Show.”

The suspect, who had gained social media fame for his ostentatious lifestyle and was celebrated for his apparent wealth, is now at the center of shocking allegations involving kidnapping and ritual killings, reports Daily Independent.

Announcing the development, President of the Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa, Uche Nwosu, said the action taken by Prince Ugochukwu deserves national recognition and emulation. In appreciation of his rare courage and patriotic service, the center has donated ₦1 million to the officer as a token of gratitude.

“In a society like Nigeria, where the get-rich-quick syndrome is at its peak, I wish to commend Prince Orji Ugochukwu, who apprehended Mr. Levi Onyeka Obu, the accused kidnapper and ritualist, from Enugu State,” Nwosu stated.

“This young officer refused a mouth-watering offer of ₦10 million from the suspect and chose instead to uphold his duty to his country. That is what true leadership and patriotism look like.”

Nwosu further lauded the leadership of the Nigeria Immigration Service for grooming officers like Ugochukwu and charged other security agencies to draw inspiration from his bravery.

“This act of patriotism is worthy of emulation by all public servants in the security sector,” he said. “It’s high time we began to celebrate those who uphold integrity, even in the face of great temptation.”

Prince Ugochukwu’s courageous act has been described by many as a symbol of hope in a country struggling with endemic corruption and a faltering moral compass. Social commentators have also called on federal authorities to formally recognize and promote him.

While the investigation into Levi Onyeka Obu’s alleged crimes continues, his arrest has reignited national conversations about wealth without traceable sources, social media-driven validation, and the need for stronger moral values in public life.

“Together, we shall build a great country we shall all be proud of,” Nwosu concluded. “God bless Nigeria!”

As Nigeria grapples with issues of insecurity and moral decadence, stories like this serve as reminders that patriotic citizens still exist and must be encouraged.
