Lecturers, 28 students of IMT Enugu face sanctions for ‘sorting’

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 4, 2025 1791 Minutes read0

No fewer than 28 students of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, involved in sorting lecturers for the upgrade of scores would be made to face a disciplinary panel, according to the Rector of the school, Prof. Gozie Ogbodo.

Prof. Ogbodo stated this when Dr Ben Nwoye, a lecturer at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Institute for Peace, Conflict and Development Studies (IPCDS), led PhD students on an internship to visit the Rector, stressed that lecturers found to have encouraged sorting would also not be spared, reports The Guardian.

Ogbodo, who applauded IPCDS for its commitment to grooming students who would serve as ambassadors of peace to society upon completion of their studies, expressed readiness to partner with the school in advancing peace in Enugu State and elsewhere.

He advocated for the need to evolve modern ways of resolving conflict because of the contemporary technological advancement in the present-day world, regretting that unresolved conflicts had wreaked serious havoc on nations across the globe, including Nigeria.

Ogbodo said he met expired curriculum and programmes on assumption of office at the IMT, “but all the academic programmes have been restored because I declared a state of emergency on the situation.”

He added: “The Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, was very supportive and we were able to subject the programmes to accreditation on April 4, 5 and 6.

“They came here and subjected all of them to accreditation, the officials of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) came here and, as I speak, I have received the official notification that we scored 100 per cent of the accreditation.
