Nigeria’s Falconets forward, Osigwe joins Swedish top club Djurgården

Nigerian women’s international, Goodness Osigwe, has completed a permanent transfer from Edo Queens, the former Nigeria Women Football League champions, to Swedish top-flight club Djurgården.

Osigwe was part of the Edo Queens squad that won the NWFL Premiership title in 2024, reports The Guardian.

Djurgården’s sports director, Jean Balawo, said the club had been observing Osigwe’s development for some time.

“I first caught sight of Goodness during the U-20 World Cup in Colombia, where she provided a crucial assist in the match against Japan, a match that ended 2-1 to Japan,” Balawo told the club’s official website.

“Since then, we have been following her progress closely, and we are confident she will adapt well to the Swedish league.”

Osigwe spoke about her move and her style of play.

“I am quick and like to take on opponents with my dribbling. I’ve managed to score some goals as well, and I play with confidence, which is important for me on the pitch,” she said.

She added, “It’s a privilege to be in the capital’s club.”
