APGA to APC: You don’t exist in Anambra, forget winning elections

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 29, 2024 2221 Minutes read0

•APC national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has dismissed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s ambitions of winning elections in Anambra State, asserting that the APC lacks the political structure needed to succeed in the state.

APGA National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, made this statement in response to APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje’s call for party loyalists to bring Anambra into the APC fold, starting with the 2025 governorship election, reports Vanguard.

Ezeokenwa, speaking at a press briefing in Abuja today, said, “The APC is not a political party that exists in Anambra State. There’s no structure, no elected officials. If they had one, we would know.”

Supporting this view, Chief Victor Oye, APGA’s immediate past National Chairman and current member of the Board of Trustees, criticized Ganduje’s ambitions, saying, “Ganduje is my friend, but isn’t it laughable that Kano, his home state, is in the hands of the NNPP, yet he’s talking about winning Anambra?

Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s second term is already secured with the Supreme Court judgment affirming APGA’s leadership.”

Ezeokenwa also celebrated the Supreme Court’s ruling, calling it a significant victory for the party. “This landmark judgment is a turning point for APGA and a renewed opportunity to strengthen our commitment to good governance, equity, and inclusive development,” he said.

He urged party members to embrace reconciliation and unity, emphasizing that “the challenges we have faced have only made us stronger. Our unity will be our greatest strength as we prove APGA is not just a political party but a movement rooted in the aspirations of ordinary Nigerians.”

The chairman called on aggrieved members to return to the fold, noting that the party has no records of Chief Edozie Njoku or Chekwas Okorie as current members. He clarified that Njoku left APGA in 2007, while Okorie was expelled for anti-party activities, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court.

Ezeokenwa concluded by encouraging party members to work together in rebuilding the APGA brand, which he said has transcended its roots in the South-East geopolitical zone.
