Real reason I don’t like listening to Burna Boy’s songs – Nigerian singer Mr. Eazi

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 9, 2026 1210 Minutes read0

•Mr. Eazi and Burna Boy

Singer and businessman Mr Eazi has explained that he avoids listening to Burna Boy’s music to prevent it from influencing his own artistic style.

Speaking on the Afropolitan Podcast, the ‘Skin Tight’ artiste said the decision was not linked to any personal issue with Burna Boy, whom he described as a singer he greatly admires.

He said, “I don’t like listening to Burna Boy’s songs – I’ve said it before. If I listen to so much Burna, you’ll hear it in my music”.

He noted that both of them share similar deep vocal tones, making it easy for elements of Burna Boy’s delivery to surface in his own work if he listens too frequently.

Mr Eazi added that Burna Boy’s style is strong enough to affect his recording process without conscious effort.

To maintain the distinct sound that first gained him recognition, Eazi said he prefers to restrict his exposure to the Grammy winner’s catalog
