•Gunmen

Suspected gunmen have attacked an office of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, carting away weapons belonging to officers on duty.

The attack reportedly occurred last night at about 10 p.m., causing panic among residents of the area, reports Daily Trust.

Sources familiar with the incident disclosed that the assailants stormed the facility and overpowered security personnel before making away with their firearms.

An immigration officer, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, confirmed the incident in a message sent to our correspondent this evening.

The officer, however, did not provide further details regarding the number of attackers involved or whether any casualties were recorded during the operation.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
