JUST IN: Gunmen kidnap two in Ogun

•Gunmen

About four gun-wielding hoodlums have abducted two residents of Kobape in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Kelvin Ayobami Moyegun and Kehinde Rufai, while another resident, identified as Al-haqq Shobakin, was shot and is currently receiving medical care at a private hospital in Abeokuta.

A relative of one of the victims, who simply identified himself as Tosin, disclosed this to our correspondent today, reports The PUNCH.

Tosin said, “What I learnt was that one of the residents, Olayinka Obadimu, was about to go out in the evening at about 7pm yesterday, and Al-haqq Shobakin came out to open the gate for him, only for them to be confronted by the kidnappers at the gate.

“Obadimu, however, forcefully drove away amid gunfire, but Shobakin, who came to open the gate, was shot by the gunmen, who were said to be about four.

“They thereafter abducted my brother, Kelvin, and another young lady, Kehinde. The security agencies, such as the police, Amotekun Corps and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, have been alerted, and we are hoping that they will help us bring back our loved ones.”

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, today confirmed the incident, saying operatives of the command had already been deployed to rescue the victims and arrest the hoodlums.

Babaseyi said, “I can confirm that there was an abduction, and one person is currently in the hospital receiving medical care. The command has deployed its operatives to rescue those who were abducted and also arrest the perpetrators.”

It will be recalled that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command, through sustained operational pressure mounted on a kidnapping gang, recently secured the release of an abducted prince of Okun-Owa in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state, simply identified as Prince Idris.

The police, in subsequent operations, also killed two of the kidnappers involved in the abduction of Prince Idris.
