Actresses sleep around for movie roles – Nollywood diva Juliet Njemanze

•Juliet Njemanze

Fast-rising Nollywood actress, Juliet Njemanze from Owerri, Imo State is quite a special breed.

The outspoken actress in a chat with Saturday Sun shares her sexual harassment encounter in the movie industry, noting that most of her colleagues offer filmmakers sex for movie roles.

She said: “I have my own little story on sexual harassment but over time as you grow in the industry and get stronger, bigger, they tend to just leave you alone because they see you as a serious actress that is really serious with the job and is not there to sleep with them. I would say one thing: people do it. Actresses sleep around for roles. Yes, it happens but it’s not a must, it’s not something you have to do to get to where you’re going. There are a lot of people that have avoided it. I pride myself in saying: ‘Bring out anyone that would say they’ve slept with Juliet Njemanze and given her role’. Bring that person out. So, I am very proud of that and I know that if I could get to this level of my career without compromising on my dignity, I can go farther.”

Asked if she would love to partake in the Big Brother Naija Reality Show if the opportunity came her way, she said, “Of course, I will. I had auditioned online one time but I don’t even remember what year. BBN is a huge platform and most creatives in the entertainment industry would definitely jump at that opportunity because it just gives you a better platform. It also shoots you right from down level to the top. You get lots of opportunities from being on the Big Brother Naija Show. So yes, I’ll take it in a heartbeat.”
