Afrobeats crooner, Ayra Starr courts global stardom, mingles with top stars

•Ayra Starr

The influence of popular singer, Oyinkansola Aderibegbe, better known as Ayra Starr, on the Nigerian music scene and beyond is undeniable. She has not only carved out a unique niche with her music but has also cultivated an impressive network within the industry

Many international artistes have expressed their eagerness to collaborate with her, and she is increasingly recognised as one of the powerhouses of afrobeats, reports Saturday PUNCH.

Recently, renowned French DJ and record producer, David Guetta, referred to her as “the new Rihanna” during an interview with Cool FM. He remarked, “When people speak about Ayra Starr in the LA (Los Angeles) and London music industry, a lot of us see her as the new Rihanna, because she comes with a vibe that is very specific because of where she’s coming from. But, she has the potential of crossing over into different cultures.”

This sentiment is echoed by her growing popularity among global music enthusiasts. Recently, the singer was spotted reveling in the vibrant atmosphere of the Crop over Festival in Barbados with world famous Barbadian singer, Robyn Fenty, better known as Rihanna. At the festival, they were both dressed in custom outfits by Lauren Austin. The festival was made even more special as she shared the spotlight with Rihanna. That was not the first time Ayra Starr shared memorable moments with Rihanna. Earlier in April, during the launch of the Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty Earth Tone collection in London, Rihanna had a good time with Ayra Starr and asked her to reach out if she needed her on a song.

Ayra’s international connections extend beyond music icons. She also shared a heartwarming moment with American actor, Will Smith, following her performance at a Coldplay concert in Rome, where they were captured sharing a hug and engaging in a lively conversation.

Adding to her impressive accolades, Ayra Starr joined American singer, Chris Brown, as a special guest on his North American tour this year. Throughout the tour, they were often seen enjoying each other’s company, and after its conclusion, Chris Brown expressed his appreciation, stating, “It was amazing to have you with us on tour, Ayra! Much love to you and your team.”
