Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage alters equation in music industry with foundation

Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage recently launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, an initiative aimed at supporting emerging African talents within the music and creative industries.

The foundation came as a move to alter the equation in the Nigerian music industry as fresh and raw talents are set to be moudled by the experience, thrive and talent of Tiwa Savage in the music scene, reports Saturday Tribune.

The foundation was unveiled on March 9, 2026, at The Delborough Lagos in Victoria Island, Lagos, during a ceremony attended by several industry stakeholders, celebrities and dignitaries.

Among those present at the event were the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, media entrepreneur Mo Abudu, music executive Don Jazzy, singer Johnny Drille, producer Cobhams Asuquo, former senator Florence Ita-Giwa and business executive Shade Okoya.

The initiative, supported by African fintech company Flutterwave, is designed to provide mentorship, education and career opportunities for aspiring musicians and creative professionals across Africa.

Speaking at the launch, Savage said the foundation was created to give back to the industry that helped shape her career while also providing opportunities for young creatives who lack access to professional guidance and resources.

According to her, many talented individuals struggle to gain exposure and industry support despite their abilities.

The foundation will focus on programmes that provide music education, mentorship and training in different areas of the music business, including production, publishing, sound engineering and film scoring.

As part of its activities, the initiative also plans to select a number of young creatives for specialised training programmes aimed at equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in the global music industry.

Savage emphasised the importance of investing in the next generation of African artists, noting that the continent’s music industry continues to gain international recognition and requires sustained efforts to nurture emerging talents.

The launch has been widely welcomed by industry observers who see the initiative as a positive step toward strengthening Africa’s creative ecosystem.

Over the years, Tiwa Savage has established herself as one of the leading figures in Afrobeats, with several hit songs and international collaborations that have helped project Nigerian music to global audiences.

With the establishment of the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, the singer joins a growing list of African entertainers using their influence and resources to support the next generation of creative talents.
