Umar Haruna Doguwa has resigned from his position as the Commissioner for Water Resources in Kano State.
A statement issued today by the spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the governor received Doguwa’s resignation letter yesterday.
According to the statement, Doguwa formally tendered his resignation yesterday, Monday, March 2, 2026, with effect from today.
His resignation follows similar exits by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umaru (rtd); the Commissioner for Special Duties, Nasiru Sule Garo; and the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, reports Daily Trust.
The statement said Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to Doguwa for his service to the state.
The governor noted that within one year at the helm of the Ministry of Water Resources, progress was recorded in the rehabilitation of water facilities and the expansion of potable water supply to several communities.
He also stated that Doguwa’s leadership contributed to strengthening institutional capacity within the ministry and improving service delivery.
Governor Yusuf wished him success in his future endeavours and directed the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, to oversee the Ministry of Water Resources pending the appointment or redeployment of a substantive commissioner.
