The remains of late Nollywood make-up artist, Ms Abigail Frederick, who died alongside popular actor, Junior Pope, and three others in a boat mishap last week were, yesterday, buried in her home state, Akwa Ibom.

The Frontier reports that Governor Umo Eno had earlier demanded that Abigail’s corpse be brought home for proper and decent burial.

The 24-year-old graduate of Theatre Arts, University of Uyo, UNIUYO, hailed from Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

A statement issued yesterday by the governor’s media team said: “Following the condolence visit to the family of the late Nollywood make-up artist, Abigail Frederick, by Governor Eno, weekend, where he promised to help facilitate the return of the remains of the late make-up artist, her body had been successfully brought back home for a proper burial today, by the family.

“Governor Eno had during the visit to the family in Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area, offered automatic employment to the elder sister of the late Theatre Arts graduate.

“He had also promised assistance to her two undergraduate sisters, and approved the remodelling of her family house in Eket.”

Meanwhile, indigenes of the council have expressed appreciation to the governor for ensuring that late Abigail’s corpse was exhumed from River Niger bank and brought back to her hometown for proper burial not minding the costs.

A community leader, Chief Sam Udobong, who expressed sadness over the ill-fated boat mishap, disclosed that all the Special Assistants to the Governor on Entertainment, led by one “Utang Ibom” were on ground in Asaba on Sunday to carry out Governor Eno’s directives.
