Brave residents confront woman attempting to kidnap teenage girl

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 6, 2024 1391 Minutes read0

Residents in GRA Phase 3, around Evergreen junction, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have apprehended a suspected female child trafficker who attempted to abduct a teenage girl in their neighbourhood.

The mother of the teenage girl, Mrs. Comfort Etim, revealed that the suspect who engaged her 12-year-old daughter along the street, enquired about the girl’s virginity before attempting to abduct her, reports Daily Independent.

Mrs. Etim told our correspondent that some concerned neighbours who saw the woman struggling with the teenage girl in a bid to kidnap her accosted the woman and handed her to the police.

She said, “I was at Mile 3 when someone called me that they stole my child, that a woman stole my child, put her in a car, and wanted to carry her and go.

“So one man intercepted the vehicle and brought my child down with the lady. So I ran from Mile 3 back to the house. When I got to my house, I saw the lady, we took the lady and my child to the Abacha Police Division.

“My child is 12 years old, she narrated to me that when the woman saw her and asked her if she had slept with any man before, my child said no. My child didn’t know the woman, I too don’t know the woman, not even where the woman is from.”

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the victim following the incident was admitted to a hospital where she is receiving treatment.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect was detained at Abacha Police Division, Abacha road, GRA phase 2, Port Harcourt.
