Bandits abduct woman, 2 children near Senator’s residence

Armed bandits stormed Bareke in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, kidnapping a woman and her two children in a brazen early morning assault around 2 a.m. today. The woman’s husband managed to flee but sustained injuries during the escape.

Local sources reported the attack occurred near the home of Senator Sunday Karimi, who represents Kogi West in the Nigerian Senate. “The woman and two of her children were kidnapped right from their house around 2 a.m. in the early hours of this morning, while her husband escaped with wounds,” one community member told Sahara Reporters.

This latest incident caps a string of violent episodes in the area. Yesterday, bandits ambushed a commercial bus in Ejiba, abducting all passengers and killing a motorcyclist identified by serial number 256. Wednesday night saw three individuals snatched from Bethel Farm in Ejiba, while earlier that day, the gang targeted a bread distributor on the Ejiba–Odo-Eri route, shooting and wounding a staff member.

The escalating insecurity has driven residents of the Okunran community in Yagba West to abandon their homes in fear for their lives.
