BREAKING: Confusion as court bars INEC from recognising Mark, Aregbesola as ADC leaders one day after official pronouncement

The FrontierThe FrontierSeptember 11, 2025 3780 Minutes read0

•David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola

Barely one day after INEC’s official pronouncement, the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order restraining the Commission from recognising David Mark and a former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as interim national chairman and National Secretary, respectively, of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This has thrown the nation’s polity into a state of  confusion.

The court order followed a motion ex parte dated September 2, 2025, and filed by Nafiu Gombe.

It listed the ADC, Mark, and Aregbesola as the first, second, and third defendants, respectively.

INEC and a former national chairman of the party, Ralph Nwosu, were listed as the fourth and fifth defendants, respectively, reports Channels TV.

The order of interim injunction issued by Justice Emeka Nwite also restrains INEC from recognising the representatives of Mark and Aregbesola, pending the hearing of the motion on notice already filed in the matter.

INEC had on its website officially recognised Mark and Aregbesola as the interim national chairman and national secretary, respectively, of the ADC.
