•BRT on fire

Passengers narrowly escaped death on Tuesday when a moving Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus caught fire on the Mile-12 Bridge along Ikorodu Road, Lagos.

Eyewitnesses reported that the high-capacity bus burst into flames today while in transit, reports Vanguard.

Passengers quickly evacuated the vehicle and moved to safety following the outbreak of the fire.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, working alongside other emergency responders, promptly extinguished the blaze.

The burnt bus was later removed from the bridge to prevent disruption to traffic flow.

The immediate and underlying causes of the fire were not known at press time. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported from the incident.

The Frontier reports that another high-capacity commercial bus caught fire on the Third Mainland Bridge in January, causing significant traffic disruptions for commuters travelling inbound towards Iyana Oworo area of Lagos State.

The incident occurred near the Adekunle area of the bridge around 1:00 p.m., according to a report from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
