The Virgin Atlantic Airlines has cancelled its morning flight today from Lagos to London abruptly.
The Frontier exclusively learnt that passengers who were booked to fly the airline’s aircraft marked VS412 scheduled for take off by 9 o’clock this morning were shocked on getting to the Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) early enough only to be informed through public announcement at the airport that their flight has been cancelled, without any explanations.
A passenger, Tony Williams (not real name) who spoke to The Frontier pleading anonymity for fear of victimisation, lamented that many of the passengers who came in from outside Lagos to board the flight were stranded.
“Honestly, I am confused right now. I cannot put my thoughts together. We’ve just been informed that the flight is cancelled without giving any reason. I don’t know whether to travel back to Benin or remain in Lagos. Who knows when the flight is going to be rescheduled? And if I stay back, at where exactly and at whose expense? the passenger lamented.
A female passenger who is based in Lagos told The Frontier that she got to the airport as early as 6am, only to hear the announcement that the flight has been cancelled.
She said, “Who does that? Why should Virgin Atlantic (Airlines) take its passengers for granted? I was dropped off at the airport this morning by my husband on his way to his office on Victoria Island. How do I get my luggage back home and when exactly will the flight be rescheduled?” she queried.
All efforts to reach the airline for comments proved abortive.
