•FRSC officials at scene of an accident

A few weeks after the tragic road accident in Gombe State that killed not less than seven journalists and media workers, another fatal accident involving journalists in Bauchi State occurred today.

The accident left several journalists hurt, including the state Correspondent of The Guardian Newspaper, Mr Rauf Oyewole.

According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred on Yashi-Yelwan Duguri Road in Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi State, when the media men covered an event of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Yelwan Duguri, reports The Guardian.

Other injured journalists are from Channels Television, AIT, NTA, Arise TV, and the News Agency of Nigeria. They received first aid treatment at Yelwan Duguri Hospital before being transferred to Bauchi General Hospital for further medical attention.

The NEDC delegation, led by Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, had been on a project commissioning tour.

The delegation also included top officials, such as the Chairman and Managing Director of NEDC, Bauchi State Deputy Governor, and other government representatives.
