President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently meeting with Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at the State House, Abuja.
The meeting comes just days after Governor Fubara formally returned to office on September 19, following the end the six-month state of emergency proclaimed on Rivers State by the president, reports The Nation.
The emergency rule, declared in March, was lifted last week after the President cited progress in restoring peace and stability in the state.
The measure had been taken to douse months of political crisis that threatened governance and security in the oil-rich state.
Today’s talks are expected to focus on consolidating peace and ensuring smooth governance in Rivers as democratic institutions resume their functions.
