Burial details released as billionaire Dantata’s corpse lands in Madinah

The burial arrangements for prominent Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has been released.

Sanusi, Dantata’s son, announced the burial arrangements today.

Dantata, who died Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, was initially billed to be buried in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, yesterday, reports Daily Trust.

Both the federal government and state governments had sent high-powered delegation to Saudi Arabia for the burial.

The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, had yesterday confirmed that the delay was linked to regulatory requirements for conveying a corpse into Saudi Arabia for burial.

“There are regulations set by the Saudi government on how to bring a body for burial in the country, so now the paperwork is being filled out between the Saudi government and the family of the deceased,” Idris told the BBC.

In his post, Sanusi announced that his father’s body arrived in Madinah this morning.

The post was accompanied by a video which showed billionaire Femi Otedola sitting with Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

According to him, a prayer would be held for Dantata at the Holy Prophet’s mosque after the Asr prayer (around 1.30pm Nigerian time), after which he would be buried at the Baqiyya cemetery.

The post read: “Aliko Dangote personally went and escorted the remains of his great-uncle, the late Alh. Aminu Dantata, from Abu Dhabi to Madinah, where he will be buried at the Baqiyya cemetery.

“The body has arrived in Madinah this morning, and the Janazah prayer will be held at the Holy Prophet’s mosque after the Asr prayer (around 1.30pm Nigeria time).

“May Allah have mercy on his soul and grant safe return to the family, friends, and well-wishers who travelled to attend the Janazah in Saudi.”
