On its part, LASTMA said that the accident claimed the life of one of the truck (T-392 LA) drivers and a suspected miscreant whose presence at the scene of the accident could not be immediately established, reports The Guardian.
However, LASEMA further said recovery operations are currently underway, including the evacuation of the affected trucks and the commodities to restore normal traffic flow. Traffic management and control measures have also been implemented to forestall any secondary incidents.
“LASEMA is working in collaboration with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the safe and orderly management of the situation.
“Motorists are advised to exercise patience and comply with traffic directives while clearance operations continue.
“The agency reiterates the importance of responsible driving, particularly adherence to speed regulations, to prevent avoidable tragedies on our roads,” LASEMA stated.
Meanwhile, LASTMA added that upon the conclusion of on-site operations, LASTMA handed over the incident to officers of the Ilasa Police Division for a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
