EASTER: Police deploy operatives to worship centres

The FrontierThe FrontierApril 4, 2026 611 Minutes read0

•Nigeria Police Force

The Ondo State Police Command has disclosed that operatives will be deployed to strategic locations across the state to ensure crime and hitch-free festivities during the Easter period.

According to the command, police operatives will provide adequate security at worship centres, recreational centres, major highways, markets, and other critical public spaces, reports Saturday Guardian.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, residents as well as visitors were assured of a secure environment.

Jimoh urged everyone in the state to celebrate the festive period without fear or apprehension.

While disclosing that the deployment was intelligence-driven, the police spokesperson stressed that specialised units, including tactical teams and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal – Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit, have been mobilised.

Abayomi added that Police Mobile Force and State Intelligence operatives are also on the ground to carry out both covert and overt operations against emerging security threats and appealed to residents to be vigilant and promptly report actionable intelligence.

He said: “This deployment is intelligence-driven and aimed at preventing any form of criminal activity while guaranteeing a peaceful atmosphere throughout the celebrations.

“This initiative is in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen security nationwide during the Easter celebrations.

“The Command further urges the good people and residents of Ondo State to celebrate and enjoy the festive period without fear or apprehension, as comprehensive security measures have been put in place to protect lives and property.

“Residents are encouraged to go about their lawful activities, attend places of worship, travel, and participate in social gatherings with confidence, knowing that adequate security coverage has been assured.

“Members of the public are, however, advised to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police and other security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through official communication channels.

“The Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free festive period for all.”
