The team bus of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu was attacked by some suspected fans of Plateau United yesterday after both teams played a goalless draw on the Match Day 11 of the 2024/2025 Nigerian Premier Football League in Jos.

Some coaches and players of the Flying Antelopes were injured during the attack, with viral videos and photos on social media showing some of them bleeding, reports Channels TV.

The General Manager of Rangers, Amobi Ezeaku, who confirmed the attack in a statement, called it unwarranted. He said the club is taking necessary actions to ensure that justice is served.

According to Ezeaku, Rangers has already submitted a petition to the relevant authorities and will not rest until the issue is thoroughly addressed and resolved.

The statement read, “We wish to inform you about the unfortunate incident that occurred during our match against Plateau United in Jos. The attack on our team was unwarranted, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure justice is served. A petition has been submitted to the relevant authorities, and we will not rest until this issue is thoroughly addressed and resolved.

“Under this administration, the symbol of our great Club must never be disrespected, and we will go to any length to preserve its honor and legacy. Our commitment to upholding the values and pride of Rangers is unwavering.

“We also want to assure you that our team members are safe and will be arriving in Enugu today. Your unwavering support and prayers mean the world to us during these challenging times. Thank you for standing by us as we continue to uphold the spirit of Rangers.

“Your dedication motivates us to push forward, and we remain committed to representing our great club with pride and integrity.”
