•Aliko Dangote and Wale Edun

The federal government has pledged to continue working towards establishing a safe and conducive environment that will attract and sustain private sector investments.

This is intended to unlock new economic opportunities and create employment for Nigeria’s growing youth population, reports The Nation.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, gave this assurance during a meeting with Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, at his office in Abuja.

The meeting focused on strategies to enhance private sector participation and stimulate economic growth through increased collaboration between government and industry leaders.

Mr. Edun stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is fully committed to fostering a business-friendly atmosphere that will enable enterprises to thrive.

He noted that the government is working on policies and reforms designed to encourage private sector innovation and investment, with the ultimate goal of achieving sustainable economic transformation.

During the meeting, key issues around investment climate, tax administration, and private sector-led job creation were discussed. Mr. Edun pointed out that engaging prominent business figures like Alhaji Aliko Dangote is critical to aligning government initiatives with the needs and capabilities of the private sector.

The Finance Minister noted that active engagement with the private sector is central to the administration’s economic strategy.

According to him, by addressing bottlenecks and ensuring stable, predictable policies, the government seeks to create an environment where investments can flourish and contribute meaningfully to national development.

In his remarks, Alhaji Aliko Dangote reiterated the private sector’s readiness to collaborate with the government in advancing Nigeria’s economic interests. He acknowledged the steps taken by the current administration to remove obstacles to doing business and encouraged the continuation of these efforts to attract both local and foreign investments.

The meeting also explored avenues through which the Dangote Group can contribute to key sectors, including infrastructure, manufacturing, and agriculture, with a view to accelerating job creation and reducing poverty.

Present at the meeting were the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adelabu Adedeji; Chairman of MRS Oil & Gas, Sayyu Dantata; and Special Adviser to the Minister, Maryam Ibrahim.
