•Governor Makinde of Oyo State
The wave of resignations from the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State continued today as the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Ojo, and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana, resigned their appointments.
Their departures add to a growing list of political appointees and government officials who have relinquished their positions in recent weeks, amid intensifying political activities and realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, reports The Nation.
Ojo, in a resignation letter dated November 2, 2026, addressed to Governor Makinde through the Secretary to the State Government, announced his decision to leave the cabinet with immediate effect.
The former commissioner, who hails from Ago-Are in Atisbo Local Government Area, referred to his appointment letter dated June 22, 2026, and expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve the state.
“I respectfully write to formally resign my appointment as Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, with effect from today, 2nd November, 2026,” he stated.
Ojo described his service under the Makinde administration as a great honour and thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him.
Similarly, Falana, who hails from Ogbomoso, announced his resignation as a member of OYSIEC in a separate letter dated November 2, 2026.
The letter, addressed to the governor through the Chief of Staff, indicated that his resignation also took immediate effect.
Falana expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve on the state’s electoral management body, describing his experience as worthwhile.
Neither Ojo nor Falana disclosed the reason for his resignation, leaving questions about the circumstances surrounding their decisions.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Budget, Hon Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, also dropped his resignation letter, adding to the long and growing list of officials who have abandoned Makinde’s government in recent weeks.
