Unidentified gunmen have invaded Rumuodogo 2 Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State killing two persons and burning some houses.

It was gathered that the invaders broke into many houses yesterday morning in search of their targets, reports The Nation.

A woman, who spoke in confidence, claimed her husband was among the attacked persons, alleging that the assailants came from a neighbouring community in another local government area bordering Rumuodogo 2 in Emohua LGA.

She said the attackers stormed their home at about 1am yesterday, broke down their door, and forced her and her husband outside.

She noted that the assailants mishandled her husband and shot him afterwards.

She said: “They came by 1am broke our door and brought my husband and me outside. I was even naked when we were brought outside. They started beating my husband and shot him.

“They wanted to kill me too, but one of them said they should leave me because I am a woman,” she narrated while fighting back tears.

“They said our community was responsible for the killing of the persons whose dead bodies were discovered in the river last Monday,” she added

When contacted, spokesperson of the State Police Command, Blessing Agabe, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident.

She said: “I can confirm the incident. Two persons were killed in the attack. “Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the motive behind the attack and to arrest the perpetrators”.
