HAPPENING NOW: Governor Umo Eno holds emergency Exco meeting, may sack commissioners today

The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 10, 2025 2961 Minutes read0

•Governor Umo Eno

Except there is a change of heart, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, is set to sack his cabinet today.

The Frontier was reliably informed this afternoon that the “Golden Boy” (as the governor is fondly referred to due to his light complexion) had already hinted that he would dissolve the state Executive Council (Exco) today, but he didn’t disclose the exact time he would do so and who would be affected in the exercise.

“Yes, it is true, the governor had earlier hinted that he would sack some commissioners today, but he didn’t say the exact time and if the entire Exco would be dissolved or who and who would be affected. All I can say is that, right now he is meeting with his Exco, may be that is the venue he is going to make a formal pronouncement about the sack. We are all anxiously waiting for the outcome of the meeting,” said our source who is a top government official in the state.

Efforts by The Frontier to speak on phone with some members of the state executive council were not successful as the calls rang out, suggesting that they were in a meeting.
