“I gave him two slaps” — Afrobeats star Burna Boy breaks silence on Wizkid, DJ Tunez clash

•Burna Boy

Burna Boy has finally broken his silence following the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged clash involving him, DJ Tunez, and members linked to his camp.

In an Instagram live video, Burna Boy sat with Shalipopi, giving an account of events. The singer insisted he was the only person directly involved in the confrontation and strongly denied claims that his crew took part in any physical attack. He said the situation has been wrongly framed as a group action.

Burna Boy also swore by his mother while denying that any of his associates touched DJ Tunez during the incident.

In his words:

“No be say my crew touch am. Na only me. I swear on my mama, if I dey lie, make Ogun carry my mama go anywhere wey Wizkid mama dey. Na only me. Na only me give am two slap. I tell everybody make nobody touch am.”

He maintained that he personally confronted DJ Tunez and said he even prevented others from joining in the altercation. According to him, the encounter was strictly between both of them.

He further claimed that DJ Tunez arrived with a group of people, but nothing happened as expected. Burna Boy said he waited at the venue for about three to four hours, expecting a possible escalation, but nothing materialised.

He also alleged that when DJ Tunez’s group saw him, they ran.

Burna Boy added that the incident showed a difference between both camps, stating that Wizkid and his team only have influence on social media, while he and his own team operate with “real-life power.”

He also reiterated that he physically slapped DJ Tunez twice during the encounter.

This comes after days of online exchanges triggered by reports of altercation involving DJ Tunez took over the internet. DJ Tunez had earlier taken to X (formerly Twitter) to allege that he was attacked from behind during the incident, and his claim triggered reaction across social media.

Shortly after, Wizkid reacted on his X (formerly twitter) account with a post that users interpreted as a jab at Burna Boy. The message referenced the incident and a viral video showing Burna Boy dancing with a towel, further escalating tensions between both camps.

Wizkid, born Ayodeji Balogun is one of Africa’s most successful global music stars, known for his chart-topping records and international collaborations.

Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna boy has earned multiple international awards and headlined major stages across the world

Micheál Babatunde, also known as Dj Tunez a central figure in Wizkid’s music team and one of the most prominent DJs in Afrobeats.
