I’ll sign death warrant of convicted bandit informants within 24 hours – Governor Idris vows

•Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has vowed to sign the death warrant of any convicted informant aiding bandits within 24 hours of conviction.

During a condolence visit to the Zogirma community in Bunza Local Government Area, where members of the Lakurawa gang killed three police officers, the governor condemned the actions of informants, describing them as “bad eggs” who sabotage national security for petty gains, reports Daily Trust.

“They deserve capital punishment and should not live among us. I will not hesitate to sign their death warrant. I do not support life imprisonment for such individuals,” he said.

Condemning the murder of the police officers, Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to passing a law that mandates the death penalty for informants in the state.

He also promised improved security across the state, including the deployment of more personnel to vulnerable communities, saying, “We will do everything humanly possible to ensure our citizens sleep with both eyes closed. Security remains our top priority, and we will not treat it with levity.”

Earlier, Bunza LGA Chairman Zayyanu Shehu and the District Head of Zogirma, Alhaji Tijjani Muhammad, commended the governor for his swift donation of N50 million and food items to victims of the attack.
