I’m scared of marriage, may consider at 40 – Popular Nigerian rapper Ice Prince

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 28, 2026 501 Minutes read0

•Renowned rapper Ice Prince

Rapper Ice Prince has stated that the realities of modern relationships make him fearful of getting married in a hurry.

Speaking on a podcast with media personality Rufai Oseni, the rapper said he often sees marriages end less than a year after weddings.

He added that the financial pressure of elaborate ceremonies is also a concern, noting that friends frequently ask him for money to fund their weddings.

Ice Prince said he does not want to put himself in that position but he may consider marriage later in life, possibly around age 40.

He cited rapper M.I Abaga, who married at that age, as an example.

He said: “These days I get scared of this marriage thing more and more everyday because I see people get married and in less than a year they want out. I see the drama people go through to get married, the stress about borrowing money. My friends are constantly reaching out to me to borrow money to get married and I don’t want to be that person.

“I’m hoping that maybe when I am 40. Some of my mentors got married that age – somebody like M.I Abaga got married at that age. Maybe when I’m that age I’ll probably be thinking about that. For now I don’t intend to”.

The rapper also shared other goals for when he turns 40, stating that he plans to return to school and run a farm.

He added that he does not see himself actively releasing albums at that age, and intends to move into a different phase of life.

“Also I have other goals when I’m 40. I intend to go to school. I really want to go to school so bad and I’d like to run a farm when I’m that age. I don’t intend to be dropping albums when I’m 40”, he added.
