INCREDIBLE: Twin brothers shine at University of Ibadan, graduate best in department, faculty with same CGPA •PHOTOS

•Twin brothers, Matthias and Matthew Busoye

Twin brothers Matthew and Matthias Busoye, have achieved a unique academic feat at the University of Ibadan by graduating with first-class honours and an identical CGPA of 3.94 out of 4.00 from the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

Not only did the brothers top their department, they also emerged as the best graduating students in the Faculty of Technology for the 2023/2024 academic session, reports The PUNCH.

Announcing their win in a post on X.com yesterday, Matthias disclosed that their journey through university was marked by consistent academic excellence and leadership contributions.

According to him, he and Matthew maintained top GPAs from their first year as they had 3.84 and 3.89 at 100 level, 3.92 and 3.94 at 200 level, 3.95 and 3.93 at 300 level, 3.94 and 3.93 at 400 level respectively, and ultimately ending their studies in 500 level with the same CGPA of 3.94.

In a separate post on X today, Matthew wrote, “Yesterday, I had the honour of delivering the induction speech as the Best Graduating Student of the Faculty.

“Rooted in my personal journey, I shared words I hope will inspire someone to rise above present struggles and keep pushing forward.

“Truth be told, this still feels surreal. My brother and I standing here today isn’t a reflection of being the most deserving or most diligent students; far from it. But for some reason, we are here,” his speech partly read.

The Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students in the university also formally celebrated the brothers as the overall best graduating students in the department and faculty, honouring their outstanding performance and leadership.

While Matthias served as the Speaker of the 11th Assembly of the UI Students’ Representative Council, Matthew led as President of SEEEES-UI for the 2023/2024 session.

A viral photo from their graduation ceremony captured the moment their mother held their hands and praying with them to celebrate their success.

Another clip from the induction ceremony captured thunderous applause from the audience as the twin brothers were called on stage together.
