A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, has reportedly died of apparent heart attack while watching Wednesday night’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa.

He was said to have slumped and died after South Africa was awarded a late penalty as Nigeria led by a lone goal in the tense encounter in Bouake, Cote d’Ivoire.

The match later went into penalty shootouts following a stalemate after 120 minutes of play, with Nigeria eventually winning 4-2.

According to a viral WhatsApp post reported by News Express:

The sad incident happened when the penalty was awarded against Nigeria. Dr Ojougboh was said to have shouted and slumped due to massive heart attack when SA scored.

P.S. We need to monitor our vital signs regularly and try not to take these football matches too much to heart.
