Abia State governor, Alex Otti, has approved payment for the first phase of the medical treatment of veteran actress Ngozi Nwosu.

The intervention followed the actress’s public appeal for financial assistance to undergo three urgent surgeries as The Frontier earlier reported.

The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, announced the development in a post on X.

“His Excellency @alexottiofr has just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills,” he wrote.

Justice noted that the government’s support covered only a portion of the required expenses and urged Nigerians to continue donating to the actress.

“While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible,” he said.

He also thanked Otti on behalf of the creative industry.

“On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader. Ndewo sir,” he added.

Recall that that the veteran actress, in an emotional Instagram video, said she had been hospitalised for three weeks and needed N30 million for three surgeries.

“My people, my fans and my family… I’ve been hospitalised now for three weeks. Please, the thing has gone beyond my control,” she said.

“I need your help. Don’t let me die… I’m going through a lot, in pain.”

The actress asked those willing to support her treatment to contact her management.
