Lagos welcomes 5 New Year babies

Lagos State has recorded a total of five babies delivered on the first day of the year 2025.

The cry of a newborn is one that every expectant mother looks forward to, and these women are fortunate to have their baby on the 1st of January, reports Channels TV.

At General Hospital Ikorodu, Mr and Mrs Olaoluwa take the crown of the first baby of the year, welcoming a baby girl delivered at 12.34 am.

Gift Kchief had the second baby, while Funke Aderinola delivered the third baby of the year 2025.

The Chief Medical Director of General Hospital Ikorodu commends the state government for the facelift and improved services of the hospital.

At General Hospital Ifako-Ijaiye, a set of twins was delivered by Mrs Mary Osayomi, the first baby was female and delivered at 12.14 am, and the second baby was male at 12.15 am.

General Hospital Isolo also had a New Year baby, by Mr. And Mrs Lawal delivered at 1:32 am, a baby boy weighing 2.7kg

The state special adviser on health, Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi says the New Year baby celebration, is a tradition that has come to stay. She appeals to Lagos residents to register with the state health insurance scheme called Ilera-Eko.

Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu who was also in attendance highlighted the blessings that come with the birth of a newborn.

He assured the people of continuous support in developing all state General Hospitals.
