Late singer Mohbad’s father narrates how his life got better after son’s death

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Ilerioluwa, a.k.a. Mohbad, has shared how his life improved following the tragic death of his son.

In a recent interview with media personality Akin Abolade, also known as Mrlilgaga, Aloba opened up about the positive changes he experienced after Mohbad’s passing.

“My life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend,” Aloba began. “He had plans to do many things for me, but they didn’t allow him to do them. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined together, that began to send people to assist me.”

Aloba went on to explain how his newfound possessions came about: “Even the car and everything I have now, people gave them to me. It’s beyond ordinary. It’s the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now.”

He further clarified that the assistance he received was exactly what his son had intended to provide before he passed away.

Addressing the rumors surrounding his son’s family, Aloba emphasised the role of Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family.

“They did a lot concerning that boy (Mohbad). All his landed property is in their possession. Even the land he bought for me to build a church, I forced him to buy it and mold the blocks, which were later used to bury him,” he said.

Aloba also recounted how Mohbad had shown him a house he planned to purchase shortly before his death.

“Two weeks before he died, he took me to the house he wanted to buy and said he would purchase it after his tour, which I know he had completely paid for.”

Reflecting on his own career, Aloba revealed that Mohbad’s birth led him to become a singer after money from his son’s naming ceremony was stolen. He recalled that at just one year old, Mohbad began singing backup for him.

Though Aloba works as a carpenter, singer, and pastor, he is without a church, he shared that his late son had promised to build one for him before his death.

During the interview, Aloba showed Mrlilgaga his new block industry, along with a truck and Toyota Highlander gifted to him by Nigerians who sympathised with him after Mohbad’s passing. Aloba also revealed he had released nine tracks since his son’s death.

Recall that Mohbad died on September 11, 2023 at the age of 26.

A nurse who was reportedly involved in administering a Tetanus vaccine to him was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command on September 19, 2023 and was found to be unlicensed.
