Liverpool are keeping tabs on Antoine Semenyo and Anthony Gordon as they plot yet another mega-money forward signing, sources have told Football Insider.
The Reds have an interest in both the wide forwards, who are impressing for Bournemouth and Newcastle United respectively, this season.
Sources say that Semenyo and Gordon are highly rated by Liverpool’s recruitment team, who are impressed by the penetration they offer to their clubs as well as their ability to play in multiple positions across the front line.
This comes amid doubts over Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool going into the January transfer window.
Semenyo has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season, with Bournemouth flying under Andoni Iraola.
The Ghanaian international has scored six league goals already this term, as well as picking up three assists for the Cherries.
Gordon is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League for Eddie Howe’s side, but has thrived in Europe.
The 24-year-old has scored four goals in three Champions League games for the Magpies, most recently grabbing a brace as Newcastle beat Benfica 3-0.
The Egyptian international was relegated to the bench for Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Frankfurt in the Champions League.
It remains to be seen whether Arne Slot will reinstate Salah to the starting lineup for the Reds’ upcoming Premier League clash with Brentford.
The 33-year-old hasn’t found the net in his last six appearances for Liverpool, which is a worrying run for someone who is normally so prolific in front of goal.
