My teeth are always closed during shooting of kissing scenes — Actress Sophia Chisom

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 23, 2026 1501 Minutes read0

•Actress Sophia Chisom Ikemba, popularly known as Soso

Nigerian actress Sophia Chisom has said she usually keeps her teeth closed and uses only her lips while filming kissing scenes.

The actress, popularly known as Soso, shared her opinion while reacting to comments by some actors who claimed they had never experienced a “good kiss” in the movie industry.

Speaking during an interview with TVC, Soso explained that she keeps kissing scenes professional and avoids using her tongue during such moments on set.

She explained that onscreen kisses in Nollywood should be treated as part of the job and not something actors are expected to enjoy.

According to her, she usually keeps her teeth closed and uses only her lips while filming kissing scenes because she is careful about exchanging saliva with different co-stars.

“I don’t know if people kiss with their tongues but I do not kiss with my tongue. My teeth are always close during kissing scenes so it is just the lips. But because it is an act, we have to make it believable.

“Some people kiss with their tongues but I don’t think it is okay to swap saliva with every single person that you shoot with. Besides, it is a job. So whenever I see a colleague complaining that they didn’t get a good kiss it is weird. You are not supposed to get a good kiss, it is a job,” she remarked.
