Peter Obi, Kwankwaso, Dickson set to announce Campaign Council — Official

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Dr Yunusa Tanko, has disclosed that the leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will soon announce the OK Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

OK is an abbreviation for the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso political ticket involving former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, reports Daily Independent.

Tanko, however, dismissed reports that the Obidient Movement had been disbanded and had collapsed into the emerging OK Movement.

He said various groups within the movement were working together towards the same objective of producing the presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 election.

Speaking with our correspondent, Tanko said, “The claim that the Obidient Movement has collapsed into the OK Movement is not true. There was nothing like that.

“Do you know that we have about seven to eight OK movements? Every one of us is working towards the same goal and purpose. We have Obidient Movement, Obidient Connect and so on. All of us are all Obidients.”

He explained that the various groups had no differences, stressing that they were collaborating to achieve a common political objective.

“We have no differences; we are just working together to achieve the same goal. We also have the Kwankwassiya movement and other groups. We are all working together as a team for the OK ticket.

“What about tomorrow if we don’t have these teams working for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, are you saying that the ideology will die? No. It will not,” he said.

Tanko further disclosed that a formal OK Campaign Council would be constituted and announced by the key leaders of the alliance.

“There will be an OK Campaign Council that will be pronounced by the three leaders – Seriake Dickson, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. They will look and decide on how they want the campaign council to look like,” he said.

The development comes as political parties and movements intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) last week announced a 223-member Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are to serve as chairman and vice chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council respectively.

The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as vice chairman, while former Zamfara State governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was named Director-General of the campaign.
