Preparations intensify ahead of Ekiti governorship election tomorrow

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 19, 2026 650 Minutes read0

The Ekiti State governorship election is gaining momentum as preparations are underway for the exercise scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Already, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is fully prepared for the exercise, reports Channels TV.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, has assured voters that all necessary arrangements have been concluded to ensure a free, fair, and credible poll.

According to the Commission, sensitive and non-sensitive materials have been distributed, while the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) are ready for deployment to enhance transparency in the electoral process.

Security agencies have also intensified preparations ahead of the election, with personnel deployed across the state’s 16 local government areas to maintain law and order. Authorities have announced restrictions on vehicular movement from midnight until 6:00 p.m. on election day.

Meanwhile, civil society organisations monitoring the election have urged political parties and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid vote-buying, intimidation and the spread of misinformation.

More than one million registered voters are expected to participate in the election.
