The National Executive Council of National Association of Proprietors of Private School (NAPPS) has decried the continued detention of the teachers and pupils kidnapped from public schools in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State and other parts of the country.
In a statement by its National President Hajia Samira Jibir and National Secretary Dr. Kayode Adeyemi, NAPPS expressed solidarity with all victims of what they called barbaric action. They condemned the act.
The statement reads: “We call for the immediate rescue of all kidnapped pupils and staff by the federal and state government, security agencies and all relevant stakeholders.
“While we respect the current decisions of other educational unions and other groups, NAPPS specially commend the immediate response of our distinguished members, especially in the Ogbomoso District of Oyo State, who have shut down their school for days and raised intense prayers and supplications for the release of all abducted teachers and pupils.
“These immediate commendable efforts are in addition to other ongoing covert actions and engagements with governments and relevant stakeholders at all levels of our noble association.
“NAPPS will continue to consult widely with all concerned stakeholders for the prompt release of the recently kidnapped teachers and pupils, while pursuing every lawful means of advocating for the safety of our children and the security of our schools”.
